Every desert safari includes complimentary hotel pickup from anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, or Ajman. Air conditioned Toyota Land Cruisers collect you between 3:00 and 3:30 PM for evening safaris or around 4:30 AM for sunrise safaris. You're back at your hotel by 9:30 PM or 10:00 AM depending on which one you book. No need to arrange your own transport.

If you prefer driving yourself, Big Red at Al Lahbab is a prominent red dune formation about 45 minutes southeast of Downtown Dubai on the E44 highway. There's free parking at the base of the dunes. Safari operators use Big Red as a secondary meeting point for guests who want to make their own way there.
View on mapDesert safaris operate 365 days a year including public holidays and Ramadan. Evening safaris are the most popular and depart hotels at 3:00 PM, returning by 9:30 PM. Sunrise safaris leave between 4:30 and 5:00 AM and get you back by 10:00 AM. Overnight safaris include the full evening programme plus breakfast the next morning. Summer departures from May to September shift 30 minutes later to avoid the worst of the heat.
The desert terrain is soft sand and uneven ground, so it's not accessible for wheelchair users or guests with severe mobility limitations. That said, guests with mild mobility issues can still enjoy the camp experience since the seating, dining, and entertainment areas are flat and covered in firm matting.
Dune bashing is not recommended for pregnant women, people with heart conditions, severe back or neck problems, or children under 3. Sandboarding and quad biking require a minimum age of 16. Camel rides are suitable for children aged 4 and up when accompanied by an adult. Seat belts must be worn during dune bashing at all times.
Wear comfortable closed toe shoes because sand fills open sandals fast. Go with light, breathable clothing and long sleeves are a good idea for sun protection. Bring a light jacket for the evening since desert temperatures drop 8 to 10 degrees after sunset. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential.

Standard evening safari includes hotel pickup in a shared 4x4 Land Cruiser, 20-30 minutes dune bashing, sunset photo stop, camel riding, sandboarding, arrival at Bedouin camp, Arabic coffee and dates, henna painting, shisha, BBQ dinner buffet (veg and non-veg), tanoura and belly dance shows, and hotel drop-off.
Shared evening safari with BBQ dinner: AED 120-200 per person. Premium with private vehicle: AED 400-700. VIP luxury: AED 800-1,500. Morning safari without dinner: AED 150-250. Overnight with camping: AED 350-600. Children under 3 are usually free.
Evening safaris: pickup 3:00-3:30 PM, return 9:00-9:30 PM (6-7 hours). Morning safaris: 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. Overnight safaris: pickup 3:00 PM, return next morning 9:00 AM. Sunrise safaris: pickup 4:30 AM, return 8:30 AM.
Dune bashing is conducted by licensed, government-certified drivers in safety-inspected Toyota Land Cruisers with roll cages and seatbelts. Not recommended for pregnant women, children under 3, or visitors with severe back/neck/heart conditions. You can request a direct camp transfer to skip dune bashing at no extra charge.
Lightweight, loose-fitting cotton clothing. T-shirt and shorts or light trousers. Open sandals rather than enclosed shoes (sand enters shoes easily). Sunglasses and sunscreen for daytime. Light jacket for winter evenings (November-February). Minimal jewellery recommended during dune bashing.
Evening safari is most popular: combines dune bashing, sunset, BBQ dinner, and live entertainment in 6-7 hours. Morning safari suits adventure-seekers wanting action without dinner. Overnight is best for stargazing and sunrise. Heritage safari suits cultural travellers preferring camel treks and falcon shows over dune bashing.
Pregnant women and guests with back or heart conditions should skip dune bashing. Most operators arrange a direct vehicle transfer to the camp. All camp activities including dinner, camel riding, entertainment, and shisha are accessible. Inform the operator at booking.
All reputable operators serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian BBQ dinner buffets. Typical veg options include hummus, fattoush, grilled vegetables, paneer, dal, rice, salads, Arabic bread, and desserts. Vegan and Jain food can be arranged with advance notice.
Most evening safaris operate in the Lahbab Desert (Al Lahbab Red Dunes), approximately 45-50 minutes south of Dubai city. Some premium safaris use the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve. The Lahbab desert features distinctive red-orange sand dunes popular for photography.
Private desert safaris provide a dedicated 4x4 vehicle and driver exclusively for your group (up to 6 passengers). You get a private table at the camp with personalised service. Pricing starts from AED 400-700. Ideal for families, couples, and groups wanting customised experience.
