Dubai was once known for pearl diving and trading before rapid modern growth. Now it's home to the tallest building on Earth, a shopping mall with over 1,200 stores, and a man-made island Palm Jumeirah is clearly visible in satellite imagery. That's the pace of this city. It builds things nobody thought were possible, then tops them the following year.

Walk through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood at 7 AM and you'll hear the creek water lapping against wooden abra boats. By lunchtime, you're 828 metres above sea level on the Burj Khalifa observation deck watching the desert shimmer below. The DXB alone connects Dubai with 291 destinations through 108 international carriers, making it the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic. So yes, you can go desert-bashing at dawn, yacht-cruising at noon, and catch a helicopter sunset over The Palm before dinner. This city doesn't do slow days.

Dubai International Airport handles over 95.2 million passengers a year with direct flights from almost every major city on the planet. It's mainly operates from Terminal 3, while DWC serves selected airlines/cargo/charter and expanding operations. The ride from the airport to Downtown or Dubai Marina takes 15–40+ mins depending on traffic. Tripventura packages include a private air-conditioned transfer straight to your hotel.

Book Transfer

The Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines connect the airport, Downtown, Dubai Mall, and Dubai Marina for 5 to 15 AED per trip. Taxis are metered and cheap; Careem and Uber work everywhere. The Dubai Tram links Marina and JBR. And you haven't lived until you've crossed Dubai Creek on a traditional abra water taxi for 2 AED, probably the cheapest scenic ride in the world. Tripventura can also arrange VIP chauffeur service for door-to-door sightseeing.

Explore Dubai City

Downtown Dubai puts you within walking distance of Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and the fountains. It's the best pick for first-timers. Palm Jumeirah is where the beachfront mega-resorts live, think Atlantis The Royal and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Dubai Marina and JBR suit couples and groups who want waterfront dining and beach clubs. Business Bay offers luxury at slightly lower rates. Budget around $150 to $250 a night for a solid 4-star; ultra-luxury starts north of $500.

See Hotels

Start with the real Emirati stuff. Machboos is spiced rice with meat, luqaimat are syrupy sweet dumplings, and chebab are cardamom pancakes that smell incredible. Al Fanar and Arabian Tea House are the places to try them. Dubai also has multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, if you're in that mood. The Spice Souk in Deira is worth the taxi ride for saffron, dried lime, and Arabic coffee alone. Friday brunch is a serious institution here, with lavish buffets running anywhere from $60 to $250.

Food Guide

Citizens from over 90 countries, including the UK, EU, US, Canada, and Australia, get a free 30-day, some 90-day depending on nationality visa stamped on arrival at the airport. No advance application needed. Your passport just has to be valid for at least 6 months. GCC nationals walk straight through. Indian passport holders can get a 14-day visa on arrival if they hold a valid US, UK, or EU residence permit (rules can change and may include visas/residency conditions). Smart Gates at the airport make the process fast for frequent visitors.

Visa Info

Dubai is hot most of the year, so pack light, breathable clothing and SPF 50 at minimum. The air conditioning indoors is aggressive, so bring a light cardigan or shawl for malls, restaurants, and the Metro. Cover your shoulders and knees in souks, mosques, and government buildings. For desert safaris, wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting sandy. Bring a swimsuit for beach clubs and water parks, and something smart-casual for the city's fine-dining spots.

Sunset slots between 4:30 and 5:30 PM have the best views and fill up fastest.

  • Schedule Desert Safari for Day 2 PRACTICAL

Don't save the desert safari for your last day. If weather cancels it, you want a backup slot available. Evening safaris pick you up around 3:30 PM and return by 9 PM, combining red-dune bashing, camel rides, a BBQ dinner under the stars, belly dancing, and fire shows. Morning safaris are quieter and great for sunrise photography and sandboarding without the crowded camp.

Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park costs AED 50 and gives you stunning skyline views from its 150-metre glass walkway.
