Pro tips to help you make a pick

Local secrets to save you time and money.

1

Ride the 1 AED Abra at Sunset

Take the 1 AED abra across Dubai Creek at sunset. It's one of the most atmospheric and cheapest boat rides anywhere in the world. Sit on the left side heading from Bur Dubai to Deira for the best photos of the illuminated waterfront.

2

Get a Nol Silver Card for Transport

Pick up a Nol Silver Card for AED 25 at any Metro station. It works on the Metro, Tram, buses, and the abra ferry. It's far cheaper than taxis for getting to tour starting points and back to your hotel on your own.
3

Split Old Dubai and Modern Dubai

If you only have one day, book a morning Old Dubai heritage walk and an evening Modern Dubai neon tour. The contrast between the two is what makes Dubai unforgettable. And you skip the worst of the midday heat.

4

Visit the Souks Before 11 AM

The Gold and Spice Souks are at their liveliest and least crowded between 9 and 11 AM from Saturday to Thursday. Shopkeepers are more willing to negotiate early in the day. By noon the narrow lanes get hot and packed with tour groups.

About Dubai City Tours

A Dubai city tour covers a lot of ground fast. You'll go from the glass towers of Sheikh Zayed Road to the old wind tower houses of Al Fahidi, and from the gold souks of Deira to the engineered coastline of The Palm. It's the quickest way to understand how a small creek settlement turned into the Middle East's most visited city.
You can do it on a hop on hop off bus with over 40 stops, join a small group tour in an air conditioned vehicle, or book a private chauffeur for the day. A city tour on your first day helps you figure out which neighbourhoods and attractions are worth coming back to.

Interesting Facts (Fun Facts)

Discover hidden secrets and stories.

Dubai Frame stands 150 metres tall and 93 metres wide, making it the world's largest picture frame. The glass floored sky deck gives you old Deira on one side and the futuristic Downtown skyline on the other. Both views at once.

The Museum of the Future opened in 2022 and National Geographic called it the most beautiful building on Earth. Its torus shaped facade is covered in Arabic calligraphy about innovation, and the entire structure has no internal supporting pillars.
Dubai Creek was the city's lifeline for centuries. The first documented settlement along the creek dates back to 1799, and it was pearl diving revenues that funded the expansion into what eventually became the modern emirate.
The Deira Gold Souk has over 300 retailers displaying an estimated 10 tonnes of gold at any given time. Dubai has some of the lowest gold retail margins in the world, which makes it a genuinely good place to buy jewellery.

Why visit Dubai City Tours?

See 50 Years of Transformation in One Day

No city on earth has changed faster than Dubai. A city tour condenses the pearl diving heritage, the 1970s oil boom, the 1990s free zone push, and the 2020s sci fi architecture into a single day. You leave actually understanding how and why it all happened.

Expert Commentary Unlocks Hidden Stories

Dubai's landmarks look impressive on Instagram, but guided tours reveal what you'd never find out online. Things like why the Burj Al Arab was built on its own island 280 metres offshore, or how the Palm Jumeirah required 94 million cubic metres of sand. Context turns sightseeing into actual storytelling.

Perfect First-Day Orientation

A half day city tour on your arrival day maps the city in your head and helps you plan the rest of your trip. You'll figure out which neighbourhoods to go back to, which restaurants to book, and which attractions are worth a full visit. It saves you hours of wandering and a lot of taxi fares.

City tours run daily throughout the year. Morning half day tours go from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Full day tours run 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with lunch included. Evening and night tours cover illuminated landmarks and the Dubai Fountain show from 3:30 to 9:30 PM. Friday tours depart 30 minutes later since some heritage sites don't open until 9 AM. During Ramadan, souk hours may vary.

Air Conditioned Transport
All city tours use modern air conditioned vehicles. Small groups of 8 to 12 guests get luxury minivans, while larger groups ride in full size coaches. Free Wi Fi is available on most vehicles and child seats are provided if you request them in advance.
Licensed Multilingual Guides
DTCM certified guides speak English, Arabic, German, Russian, Chinese, and Hindi. They provide historical context, cultural etiquette tips, and insider recommendations. Private tour options are also available with personalised itineraries.
Complimentary Water and Refreshments
Bottled water is provided throughout the tour. Full day tours include a lunch stop at a local restaurant serving Arabian, Indian, or international cuisine. Some premium tours also include traditional Arabic coffee and dates at the heritage stops.

Wheelchair Accessible on Most Routes

Modern Dubai landmarks like Downtown, Marina, and Dubai Mall are fully wheelchair accessible. Heritage areas like Al Fahidi and the souks have narrow lanes and uneven surfaces that can be challenging. Tour operators can adjust routes for guests with mobility needs, just let them know when you book.

Dress Code for Heritage and Mosque Visits

Cover your shoulders and knees when visiting Jumeirah Mosque, heritage areas, and the souks. Jumeirah Mosque is the only mosque in Dubai open to non Muslim visitors and they provide complimentary abaya or kandura at the entrance. Photography is welcome but always ask before photographing local Emiratis.

Friday Hours Differ

Gold and Spice Souks open later on Fridays, usually around 4 PM. Plan your souk visits for Saturday to Thursday mornings for the best experience and the widest selection of open shops.
