Antiphellos is a place above Kaş, known as an important port city of the Lycia Civilization. It was originally built as the port for the ancient city of Phellos, near Çukurbağ village. It's unclear if it belonged to a king, but its name comes from the lion heads on it. There are also three other solid sarcophagi in the market area and at the harbor entrance. If you look at the rocky hill behind Kaş, you can see two ancient rock tombs from the early days of Antiphellos.
The water systems in ancient Lycia used cisterns, and only two of the many cisterns from the Hellenistic and Roman times in Antiphellos still exist today. At Kaş Harbor, the cistern next to Echo Bar is open for visitors. It has lights, a roof held up by seven columns, and is carved from the rock, all free to explore. On the path to the ancient theater, you can find the remains of what is thought to be a Hellenistic temple, along with pieces of sarcophagi placed around it.
