The Museum of Islamic Art was the final major work of legendary architect I.M. Pei, who came out of retirement at age 91 to design the building. He requested his own artificial island so the museum would never be obstructed by surrounding development.

Souq Waqif's name translates to 'standing market' because traders historically stood along the banks of a dry riverbed to sell their goods. The entire souq was beautifully restored in 2006 using traditional materials and methods.

The Pearl-Qatar is a 400-hectare artificial island that was built on one of Qatar's former pearl diving sites. It's the first land in Qatar available for foreign ownership and houses approximately 18,000 residents.

Doha's metro system was built in just five years for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making it one of the fastest major metro constructions in history with 37 stations across three lines.
