The world's longest zipline is RAK's top attraction and sells out regularly, especially on weekends from Friday to Saturday and during the October to April peak season. Book at least 7 days ahead to secure your preferred time slot. Morning slots from 9:00 to 10:00 AM offer the clearest visibility and the least queue time at the platform.

Combine Zipline and Via Ferrata in a Single Day

Both activities are located on Jebel Jais, so scheduling them together saves a second drive up the mountain. Book the Via Ferrata Ledge Walk or Halfway route for 9:00 AM, finishing by 11:30 AM, then have lunch at the 1484 by Puro restaurant, and take the zipline in the early afternoon. This combines RAK's two signature activities into one efficient day.

Bring Layers, Mountain Temperatures Drop Significantly

Jebel Jais is 15 to 20 degrees cooler than RAK city at sea level. Winter mornings at the summit can drop to 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, and wind chill makes it feel colder. Bring a windproof jacket, even if it's 30 degrees at your hotel. Wear closed-toe hiking shoes with grip. Flip-flops and sandals aren't permitted on climbing activities.

The Jebel Jais Flight is the world's longest zipline, certified by Guinness World Records at 2.83 kilometres. Riders are harnessed in a superman-style prone position and reach speeds of up to 150 km/h as they soar 1,680 metres above sea level. The total descent covers a vertical drop of more than 1 kilometre, and the full flight lasts approximately 2 to 3 minutes.

The Bear Grylls Explorers Camp on Jebel Jais is the first of its kind in the world. The camp offers 16 different outdoor challenges designed by Bear Grylls himself, including high-rope courses, climbing walls, archery, and survival skills training. Jebel Jais Via Ferrata is the UAE's only iron-path climbing experience. Self-Drive to Jebel Jais from RAK City

The drive from RAK city centre to the Jebel Jais adventure area takes 35 to 45 minutes via the scenic Jebel Jais Road, one of the most dramatic mountain drives in the UAE. The road climbs from sea level to 1,934 metres with hairpin turns and panoramic viewpoints. Free parking is available at the main activity base. All zipline, Via Ferrata, and Bear Grylls camp bookings include a specific meeting point with GPS coordinates.

Transfers from Dubai Hotels

Tour operators offer return transfers from Dubai hotels to Jebel Jais and other RAK adventure locations. Pick-up from Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, arriving at Jebel Jais by 9:30 AM. Return to Dubai by 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Private and shared transfer options are available. Self-driving from Dubai takes approximately 90 minutes via the E311 highway.

Professional Equipment and Safety Gear

Equipment is inspected daily and meets international safety certification standards.

Mountain Cafes and Rest Areas

Several rest stops and a cafe are located along the Jebel Jais road and at the activity base. Bring additional water for hiking because there are no facilities on the mountain trails themselves.

Limited Accessibility on Mountain Activities

Adventure activities on Jebel Jais involve physical exertion and occur on uneven mountain terrain. The zipline requires guests to walk approximately 200 metres to the launch platform. Via Ferrata requires upper body strength and grip. The Bear Grylls camp has some ground-level challenges suitable for guests with limited mobility. Kayaking is accessible for guests who can sit in a kayak. Contact operators in advance to discuss specific requirements.

Weight and Age Limits

Jebel Jais zipline: minimum weight 40 kg, maximum 150 kg, minimum age 12. Via Ferrata: minimum age 12 for Summit route, 10 for Halfway, 6 for Ledge Walk. Bear Grylls Camp: minimum age 6. Paragliding: maximum weight 100 kg, minimum age 14. All participants must sign safety waivers. Pregnant women cannot participate in zipline, Via Ferrata, or paragliding.

Weather-Dependent Closures

Adventure activities at altitude are subject to weather conditions. Zipline and Via Ferrata close during fog, which is common in winter mornings at summit level, as well as rain, electrical storms, or high winds exceeding 40 km/h. Paragliding requires wind speeds below 25 km/h. Closures are announced the morning of, and bookings are rescheduled or refunded. Check conditions before driving up.
